Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) – Londonderry Air
Friedrich “Fritz” Kreisler was an Austrian-born violinist and composer.
He was one of the most noted violin masters of his day, and regarded as one of the greatest violinists of all time. Like many great violinists of his generation, he produced a characteristic sound which was immediately recognisable as his own.
The Londonderry Air is an Irish air that originated in County Londonderry, but no one knows when it was first written. This is Kreisler’s version.
